Location: Heartwood Nursery, 8957 Hickory Rd, Felton, PA 17322, USA

Join FNLT supporters for this special insight into the unique landscape and operations of Heartwood Nursery, preserved by owner Sue Hunter in 2013.  In addition to the existing mature hardwoods tract, a large percentage of the property has been reforested with native species indigenous to the area. This is a great chance to learn about native species that can be added to your home property – regardless of the size – for beauty and the environment.

Throughout the property, there are display gardens of varied species, and storm water management areas have been created to reduce rainwater runoff and soil erosion. Pollinator meadows have been created to increase habitat for birds, pollinating insects, bats and wildlife. Focal points within the reforested area include a mature grove of over 125 Serviceberry (Amelanchier canadensis) trees and collections of large, uncommon specimen trees and shrubs, most notably Hollies.
